When you think about what industry has been directly affected by COVID this year, I would have to say the Arts. Our gallery closed down in March and has not be open since. Our events for the year were all cancelled, leaving our artists to explore other options. Our building and our gallery is a home first, so Artspace made the call to close down all of our public community spaces in the building for safety.
Virtual art shows have been happening around the Omaha area, and it was the next best option for many to survive financially. Our building is filled with musical artists as well as visual and every single artist was searching for alternative ways to keep moving forward. We had to think outside the box, but most of our time was consumed with how we were going to stay healthy and find income.
This holiday season, we ask you, to really think about the gifts you choose to give this year. To appreciate a gift from an artist means so much more because it's original and supports a small business at the same time. Let's not forget our artists are AMAZING as well. We have put together a small list of Harvester Artists that have created for the Holiday season. Please consider reaching out to them to make a purchase this year instead of buying something off Amazon or in Walmart. I promise, buying art from these makers is better...
